Can u study nursing without matric

  Individuals interested in becoming a non-matriculated student may be permitted to take up to six (6) credits in specified courses. In order to become a non-matriculated student, a “Non-Matriculated Application” must be completed and submitted to the School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs for approval. This application is available in the School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs. Non-matriculated study does not guarantee admission to the School of Nursing.

Non-matric courses available by permission through the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) are:

  • HNI/HNC 366 Group Theory
  • HNI/HNC 360 Statistics
  • Selected Electives

BRIDGING COURSE

Duration of Course

Two years full time

Medium of tuition is English

The course consists of a theoretical and a practical component

Course of Study

First Year

  • Integrated General Nursing Science I
  • Applied Social Science I
  • Ethos and Professional Practice I

Second Year

  • Integrated General Nursing Science II
  • Applied Social Science II
  • Ethos and Professional Practice II

Computer training is also included in each study year.

The learner must also receive practical training of at least 1,000 hours at the approved clinical facilities per year.

Theoretical examinations are conducted by the South African Nursing Council at the end of each study year.  Practical examinations (clinical) are conducted by Thuto Bophelo Nursing Academy at the end of each study year.

The successful learner can register at the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
